Education and Training
MSW, Ph.D.; LCSW; Type 73 (School social work license)
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in professional practice for over twenty years. I received undergraduate and graduate education in Bombay, India and my doctoral degree in social work from Jane Addams College of Social Work, University of Illinois at Chicago. Besides LCSW, I have also completed the requirements for the Illinois Certification for School Social Workers and the certificate course in Geriatrics and Gerontology for Non-Physicians.
Professional Experience
Clinical Experience
In the last 25 years, I have worked in varied settings ranging from hospitals to long term care. I have also worked with domestic violence clients, devised groups in nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
Teaching Experience
For 12 years, I was a full-time faculty member at Valparaiso University (6 years) and Aurora University (6 years). My expertise lies in teaching social workers various therapies, interviewing styles and how to become culturally competent and promote evidence-based practice.
